May 1 to 31, 2026 in the Sigel Gallery at the Falmouth Art Center

Jim Weinberg painted these original oils, primarily in the last five years. Subject matter is diverse, including a variety of animals, natural landscapes, and interiors and exteriors of buildings. Works by the great early Dutch artists influence the painting style. Jim attempts to create balance, consistency, and stillness (and/or movement) by introducing colors, shadows, textures, and angles between elements.
About the Artist: Jim Weinberg began oil painting as a teenager in the 1960s. His parents encouraged him to paint and exposed him to art in museums.
While at Miami University in Ohio, he was trained in painting, drawing, and sculpture. He primarily painted still life and interior compositions, and exhibited one painting in a juried regional show at the Toledo Museum of Art.
In addition to the Midwest, Jim has lived on the east and west coasts of the U.S., and in Central and South America.
He had a lengthy career in Woods Hole in marine biology, evolutionary ecology, and fisheries.
Since his retirement in 2020, he has studied drawing, still life and landscape painting with Dan Hanagan at Falmouth Art Center and with Hillary Osborn. His works have been included in juried and non-juried shows at the Falmouth Art Center.
Jim is grateful to Vicke Starczak for constructive critiques of his art, and to Frank Almeida for his support in building frames. Email: jweinber60@yahoo.com
