Mondays 9:30am to Noon
A Meetup Group for Members of Falmouth Art Center
All mediums and skill levels are welcome.
The Monday Morning Painters, a meetup group for Falmouth Art Center members, paint “en plein air” (outside) around Falmouth “from daffodils to pumpkins,” meaning from April to October, weather permitting. The group meets each week at a designated spot in Falmouth. The location of the meeting place is posted in Falmouth Art Center’s weekly e-newsletter and emails are also sent to all participants in the group. Off-season, the group meets in a classroom at Falmouth Art Center.
Participants bring their own supplies. Some of the members have elaborate plein air easels and other equipment. Others show up with just a pad of paper and drawing utensils and find a place to sit, like a rock or steps. Some favorite places for the group to paint over the years include Spohr Gardens, Menauhant Beach and Woods Hole.
After painting, the group gathers for a critique session on the work that has been done during the session. The group always meets two weeks in a row at each spot, so participants have time to finish their paintings.
There is no charge to participate but all participants must be members of Falmouth Art Center.
The Monday Morning Painters have been a part of Falmouth Art Center since the early days of the organization when it was called the Falmouth Artists Guild and it was located in the historic Poor House. The group has been gathering on Monday mornings, painting the local landscapes and seascapes, for over four decades.
