Description
Thursdays, September 24 – November 5 (No Class October 15)
1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
This 6-week class is for the painter with experience in either oil or acrylic.
The class will cover essential terms and common practices as a review, but move on to design, value control, additional color mixes, creating neutrals and other topics that will expand your experience and painting options.
This class will use representational sources. Please bring several photos to work from that have a good range of values. Bring what you love and want to paint. If possible, please print your photos. Original photos, taken by the student, are recommended to avoid any copyright conflicts.
Each class will start with a brief discussion of various aspects of painting, including:
- Design essentials and values
- Addition and use of translucent colors
- Edge control
- Human form in the landscape
- The importance of darks
- Expressive brush strokes
- Personal style and how to find it
Class participation and questions are strongly encouraged. After a short discussion period, the remainder of the class will concentrate on painting and individual critiques.
Please register early as class registration closes 48 hours before the start of first-class. Registration must be accompanied by full payment.
