This is a 4-session workshop. For beginners and experienced printmakers.
One of the oldest arts of printmaking is “woodcut”. Developed in Europe in the 15th century and hundreds of years before in Asia.
A woodcut plate, once made, can be a source for many versions of print composition.
During the first 2 days of the workshop you will design and carve your printing plate(s), with tools provided. You will take time to think about the colors you would like to use, while considering the use of positive and negative spaces.
During the second 2 days you will print your plate(s) in many versions using the press and hand printing.
Carving woodcut plates: Tuesday Oct. 13 1 to 3pm and Thursday Oct. 15 1 to 3pm
Printing: Saturday Oct. 17 10am-3pm and Sunday Oct. 18 1-3pm
Please Note: A $35 material fee is due to the instructor by cash or check on the first day of the workshop to cover materials provided by the instructor. See the materials tab above for a list of materials you should bring with you.
