2026 Juried Abstract Exhibition
This is a competitive show and not every entry will get into the show.
You may submit artwork in any medium.
Artists can enter as many pieces as they like to try to increase their chances of getting into the show. See below for the cost to enter. Additional entries cost less.
What is Abstract Art?
Abstract art is non-representational: it does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of visual reality (such as a person, an object, a landscape) but instead uses shapes, colors, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect. Even works that loosely depict a recognizable scene, person, object etc. are not considered abstract because we can recognize the subject (so these works are considered representational).
- Receiving date for entries: Tuesday, September 29, 9am to 4pm, in person
- Accepted works will be posted on the Falmouth Art Center website on Thursday, October 1, by 5pm.
- Pick up for pieces not accepted into the show: Friday, October 2, 9am to 5:30pm and Saturday, October 3, 10am to 2pm.
- Exhibit dates: October 2-26
- Reception: October9 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Submission fees:
- members: $15 for first entry, $10 for each additional entry
- nonmembers:$20 for first entry, $15 for each additional entry.

Commission
If your artwork is purchased, keep in mind that the Art Center retains a 30% commission for members and a 50% commission for non-members for all art sales.
Juror: Sky Power
Sky Power is a contemporary painter based in Provincetown, MA since 1976. In the early seventies, Power attended Cornish School of Allied Arts in Seattle, WA, and was an artist-in-residence at the Pulpit Rock Artist Community in Woodstock, CT. Power studied with Hans Hofmann students, Paul Resika, Selina Trieff, and Robert Henry, and has been an exhibiting artist at Berta Walker Gallery in Provincetown, MA, since 2004. For the past four decades, Power has exhibited at various galleries and museums including George Billis Gallery in NYC, the U.S. Embassy in Muscat, Oman; New Britain Museum of American Art, Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Wichita Art Museum, Cape Cod Museum of Art, Cahoon Museum, and Provincetown Art Association and Museum. The artist’s work is included in the permanent collections of the U.S. Embassy, Valletta, Malta, Cape Cod Museum of Art, and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. Power’s vision returns abstraction to its earliest roots, that of a bridge between the material and spiritual worlds. Her work is color-infused and evocative, emphasizing the horizon to depict the intimate landscape with the infinite sky and vast sea.
