Wednesdays, March 6th to April 10th
9:30 am – 12:00 pm
This is a six-week hybrid/in-person and online class. You may attend in-person at the Falmouth Art Center or by Zoom for if you can’t attend in-person or if weather is inclement.
Start a new painting or continue with one that is incomplete! Maybe you have a painting that is just not quite right, bring it to class! Let’s have some fun exploring ways to enhance your painting whether it is pastel techniques or mixed media. We will continue to explore color as it transitions through the bands of atmospheric perspective, and using linear perspective to create the illusion of depth. And, I will introduce 3 point perspective!
Any subject still life, interiors, and landscape. Lessons will promote drawing and pastel techniques, perspective, use of value for impact, and color palette options. We will also look at both traditional and contemporary techniques for your paintings. You will have options to use various pastel papers, incorporating multi-media if desired. Tips from previous sessions will be revisited: using stencils to enhance your painting, painting with PanPastels and using stamping and mixed media to create underpainting or textural surface.
You can work from your own photos and I will have some for you to use as a resource.
Hints for collecting images for landscape, interiors and still life.
- Take photos that have an obvious light source – natural and/or interior lights that create shadows (subtle or bold).
- Notice arrangement of objects, overlapping and size differentiation.
Please register early as class registration closes 48 hours before the start of first class. Registration must be accompanied by full payment.
