On exhibit August 1 – 31 in Falmouth Art Center’s Sigel Gallery
Quite an extreme notion. The phrase, “Trash Nothing” comes from a local website which offers free items from people just like us. Check it out.
My father, ahead of his time, wanted us to use things we already had. How silly. I wanted to buy NEW, and be like all the other kids.
I guess I’ve come around.
BUT, what does this have to do with art? One can make beautiful things while re-using what otherwise would be trashed. Plastics, yes, reusable, see the Plastics Project here. Bird feathers? Scrap yarn? Gourds? Broken furniture? Fallen trees? Shards of glass?
Of course our household has trash. We bring our barrel out to the curb like everyone else. But keeping the phrase TRASH NOTHING in mind makes one think before tossing. Thinking globally, acting locally, we all are trying to do our part to reuse and recycle.
