This is a three session workshop with classes on June 16, 23, and 30.

Welcome to the Zentangle Method! Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images using structured patterns. No talent is required – anyone can create these beautiful & simple images!

Instructor Shelly McDermott is a Certified Zentangle Teacher.

In this workshop you’ll learn the basics of zentangle and leave with zen.

Day 1 Learn & draw Zentangle patterns in your notebook & design notebook cover.

Day 2 More Zentangle patterns added to notebook plus design & make bookmark(s) & card(s).

Day 3 More Zentangle patterns & make two-sided acrylic framed Zentangle art piece.

There will be a $15 materials fee due to the instructor at the beginning of class. All materials will be provided by the instructor.

REFUND POLICY:

Refunds will not be given within one month of the start of a workshop. Workshops are not pro-rated. A $25 processing fee is withheld from all refunds.

The Art Center reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment, in which case tuition will be fully refunded.

Instructor Bio

Michelle (Shelly) McDermott, CZT, is a Mashpee resident and retired from education to move Cape Cod a few years ago to pursue her creative passions. Earlier in her career, she attended art school and over the years has taken courses and workshops in new mediums to develop her abilities. She has worked in acrylic, watercolor and now alcohol ink. Shelly is a former potter that worked with clay through wheel throwing, hand building and Raku techniques and taught classes in that medium in her studio/shop. Shelly is currently a juried, exhibiting member of the Falmouth Artist Gallery, Cotuit Art Center, Cultural Center of Cape Cod in So. Yarmouth and True Grit Gallery in Middleboro, and has had a one-person show of her paintings at the Maser Gallery in Falmouth.

Shelly has a BS in Education from Bridgewater State College; a Master’s degree from Lesley College in Integration of the Arts into the Curriculum; she taught elementary and middle school students for 25 years before retiring.

Shelly uses photos and sketches of her nature hikes along woodland trails and shorelines, to bring realism and details to her paintings. The mediums she uses are primarily watercolors and alcohol inks. Both of these mediums allow her the freedom to express the magic of nature’s colors, textures and its changing shapes on paper. Painting is her way of expressing and sharing the beauty in nature she experiences.
