Saturdays, Jan 10 – February 28
4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

This is an 8 week class for beginners and advanced beginners.

This is a wheel class covering the basics: centering, opening, bowls, cylinders, mugs, glazing & surface decoration. We will also begin altering thrown pots by darting, stretching, reshaping, carving etc. Often students believe these techniques are for advanced students, but not so! These can be used to turn a heavy bottomed or lopsided pot into an exquisite thing of beauty.

Mistake are opportunities for greater creativity.

The Falmouth Art Center is very proud to have a scholarship fund supported by donations from members and friends. It is available for both children and adults who have a great desire to create art. Scholarship Information and Forms

Refund policy:

Refunds will not be given within one week of the start of a class. Classes are not pro-rated, and there are no makeups for missed classes. A $25 processing fee is withheld from all refunds.

The Art Center reserves the right to cancel any class or workshop due to insufficient enrollment, in which case tuition will be fully refunded.

If Falmouth Public Schools are closed due to weather conditions, we will be closed and the missed classes will be rescheduled.

Materials

Fee includes 25 pounds of clay, glaze and firing fee. A tool kit may be purchased for $20. Open studio time, which is scheduled several times throughout the week, is available at no extra charge.

Bring an apron or an old towel to protect your clothes. We sell sturdy aprons in red, black and tan at Falmouth Art Center for $28 if you need to purchase one.

Instructor Bio

Wendy is an Acupuncturist, Massage therapist and Shaman by profession. Her secret identity is as an avid potter.

Wendy started working with ceramics when she was 12. She learned both a hand building and wheel throwing and fell in love with both. She stepped away from ceramics many times, (sometimes decades at a time) and always found her way back to it, each time intrigued by a different aspect of the medium. Combining wheel and hand building is her current passion. She loves darting and stretching thrown vessels giving them dynamic, organic form. She is a natural teacher and loves coaching people through the obstacles encountered.

Wendy believes that every mistake is an opportunity for greater creativity.
