Description
Mondays, January 13 – February 17
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
This is a 6-week class.
If you are interested in learning to weave, a good place to start might be a Rigid Heddle loom. The Rigid Heddle is “user friendly,” manageable, and conveniently portable. It can be used to make functional items like hand towels, table runners or scarfs. The loom can also be used to design and create wall hangings using different weaving techniques. The Rigid Heddle loom allows the weaver to be very creative combining weaving techniques with pick up patterns.
Demonstrations and discussions will include all the steps necessary to set up the loom to begin weaving. Different weaving techniques will be introduced, and students will be encouraged to create a sampler of techniques. Using pick-up sticks to create patterns for both weft and warp floats will be explored.
If you have questions or need more information about this class, you are encouraged to contact Christine at 774-487-2134.
Please know The Falmouth Art Center has Rigid Heddle looms that can be borrowed for this workshop. Contact the center prior to the workshop if you need to borrow a loom.
