Description
Tuesdays, January 6 – February 24
1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (8 Weeks)
Hollis Engley has been making pots for more than 30 years. He’s shown in museums and galleries here on the Cape and in numerous other places around the country. His work is influenced by Japanese and Korean country pots.
This is a class for clay folks with some experience. You don’t have to be an expert, but you need to be comfortable centering clay on the wheel and making basic forms. We can grow from there. Or, handbuilding might be your thing and Hollis’s students sometimes have spent the whole session handbuilding wonderful work.
There are not a lot of rules. Hollis will make his own cone 10 pots beside you, demonstrating functional work, often in rough wild clay. You can fire your pots in our wonderful gas kiln or if you’re more comfortable working in cone 5 clay you can do that too. The point of the class is to make good pots and have fun doing it.
