Thursday, October 24th (this workshop will also run on October 31st)

1:30 – 4:00pm

First half of the workshop will focus on gel printing on tissue paper applying various stencil techniques. We will also be using the papers that have been created in previous workshops or at home. Beginners are welcome to use papers provided by the instructor. Also, feel free to bring your own stencils or use the ones that will be provided.

Second half we will create a Mixed Media piece on an 8×8 panel by making a background first, then using collage and stencil techniques second. Finally rounding it up with some mark making techniques. The focus will also be on composition principles.

Blank panels can be purchased from the instructor for $2 each. Please bring the amount in cash if you intend to purchase one.

Refund Policy

Refunds will not be given within one week of the start of a class and one month before the start of a workshop. Classes are not pro-rated, and there are no makeups for missed classes. A $25 processing fee is withheld from all refunds.

The Art Center reserves the right to cancel any class or workshop due to insufficient enrollment, in which case tuition will be fully refunded.

Acrylic paint

Sharp scissors

Glue stick or other type of glue

Optional

Liquidex Matt Medium -> best for glueing tissue paper! Small bottle is sufficient.

Mark making tools like: egg cartons, bubble wrap, textured cardboard, nets from orange bags etc.

Apron or paint shirt

Latex gloves

Stack of copy paper

Optional, these will be provided if you don’t have them:

gel plate and brayer

Instructor Bio

Inge Biekert

I grew up in Germany and after high school went to obtain a Master’s Degree in Education from the Teachers Training College in Heidelberg. During my high school teaching tenure, I worked as a teacher of Mathematics and Art.

From 2012 to 2021 I lived and worked in the Midwest. Next to working in our business and immersing into my own art, I volunteered at the Walker Art Center, the renowned contemporary art museum in Minneapolis. I helped launch and execute their art program for art activities for families.

Currently, I’m enjoying volunteering at the Falmouth Art Center with their art program for children.

After retiring from our business, my husband Rolf and I moved to Falmouth in 2022.

I have been teaching art classes in Falmouth since 2023 with a focus on the gel plate and how it can produce stunning results with simple techniques.
