Description
Wednesdays, September 13 – October 18
9:30 am – 12:00 pm
NO CLASS ON OCTOBER 11.
This is a 5-week hybrid/in-person and online class. Students may attend all classes in person or take the class using the Zoom platform. The Art Center will email you the link before the online classes meet.
In this session we will be diving into using perspective as an artist’s tool to create depth within your paintings. Not architectural rendering but painting techniques to heighten sense of space, by using composition, color and value for still life, interiors and/or landscape paintings. Lessons will promote drawing and pastel techniques, perspective, use of value for impact, and color palette options. We will also look at both traditional and contemporary techniques for your paintings. You will have options to use various pastel papers & supports for your theme, incorporating multi-media if desired. Tips from previous sessions will be revisited. We will also have some fun and use some unusual vantage points and skewed perspective angles!
You can work from your own photos and I will have some for you to use as a resource.
Hints for collecting images for landscape, interiors and still life.
- Take photos that have an obvious light source- natural and/or interior lights that create shadows ( subtle or bold).
- Notice arrangement of objects, overlapping and size differentiation.
Please register early as class registration closes 48 hours before the start of first class. Registration must be accompanied by full payment.
