ONLINE CLASS: Advanced Color & Abstract Acrylic Painting with Mellissa Morris – Tuesdays (Summer)

This is a 6-week class. Class meets online using the Zoom platform.

In this painting course students will learn and use  advanced skills in color theory as a means of creating abstract images. Color demonstrations, call and response activities, group discussions, and acrylic paint techniques will be explored. 

If you are new to the class, we suggest you take Mellissa’s Intro Color and Abstract Painting course first.

The Falmouth Art Center is very proud to have a scholarship fund supported by donations from members and friends.  It is available for both children and adults who have a great desire to create art.  Applications should be submitted to Laura Reckford, Executive Director of the Falmouth Art Center. Scholarship Information and Forms


Refunds will not be given within one week of the start of a class. Classes are not pro-rated, and there are no makeups for missed classes. A $25 processing fee is withheld from all refunds.

The Art Center reserves the right to cancel any class or workshop due to insufficient enrollment, in which case tuition will be fully refunded.

If Falmouth Public Schools are closed due to weather conditions, we will be closed and the missed classes will be rescheduled.









Students should have access to at least an introductory paint set, paper, and brushes. Container for water, paper towels or old rags, tape, palette knife. Palette paper, wax paper, or a glass paint palette for mixing paints. A notebook and pen or pencil.

Instructor Bio

Mellissa Morris is currently the Artist in Residence at 46 Pearl Street in Hyannis. Mellissa has been teaching Abstract Painting classes and workshops for over ten years at local art organizations and colleges in Massachusetts. More about Mellissa and her work can be found at:
