Description
Wednesdays, March 29 – May 3
10am to 12:00 pm
This class is for artists and art students who have some familiarity with the art-making process. Whether you are a representational or abstract painter or drawer, this class will open you up to the playfulness of acrylic mixed-media collage! There are two facets of the class: first, I’ll lead you through a series of exercises for building and forming the pieces. Second, this “Lab” class will allow time to work on your own, to deepen your process, and dialogue with fellow art-makers as we go.
Techniques will include glazing, tints, washes and the basics of building layers with papers, and collage techniques. We will also spend some time creating the papers used for collaging, which I call “raw material”. The final phase of the class will focus on composition, and how to understand when a piece is finished.
Come enjoy with your fellow art-makers, as we learn about the endless flexibility and joy of mixed-media collage.
Check the “materials” tab for supplies you’ll need to bring to class.
