Description
Wednesdays, April 23 – May 28
9:30am to 12:00pm
This is a 6-week class.
This session of pastel painting classes will focus on the exploration of both color and multimedia with pastel painting techniques. You will explore ways to expand your choices based on color harmonies and attributes, and how the variations of palettes support the expressive side of your painting. We will be using paints underpainting and you then have the option to expand into more multi-media choices. Demos and exercises provided. Instruction includes preliminary planning with composition, notans, value and color studies.
Optional: If you choose to expand to multi-media, pastels work wonderfully with other mediums, and in this class, you will have the option to incorporate techniques and materials into your pastel paintings. Whether you are looking to create a subtle or bold statement you can stretch your pastels and explore what happens when you combine pastels with a variety of materials including inks, paints, stencils, tissue papers and origami papers. You can work representationally or abstract your work, anything goes!
