This course is suitable for beginners and intermediate painters.

This is a two day workshop

This introductory course will approach abstract painting through still-life. There will be construction and de-construction of the still-life and in – studio demonstrations and class critiques. This class is for beginners and all levels of acrylic painting with interest in Abstract Painting.

FALMOUTH ART CENTER REFUND POLICY:

Refunds will not be given within one month of the start of a workshop. Workshops are not pro-rated. A $25 processing fee is withheld from all refunds.

The Art Center reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment, in which case tuition will be fully refunded.

Colors – Liquitex Basics Acrylic Paint:

Primary Red, Primary Yellow, Primary Blue, Black & White.

Brushes: Variety of sizes for acrylic paint.

Stretched Canvas or Canvas Panels – 8 x 10, and/or 11 x 14.

2B Pencil

One empty clean coffee can, for water

A roll of paper towels, for cleaning brushes

Paper Plates to use as a pallet

Instructor Bio

Michael A. Giaquinto is an abstract painter living on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He is also the Exhibitions Curator at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. He studied studio art at Montserrat College of Art, Beverly, MA, and he studied art history at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC

He was the art teacher at St. John Paul II High School in Hyannis, MA. and he has taught at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in South Yarmouth, MA, and the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill, Truro, MA.

Currently he teaches acrylic painting for adults at the Weny Education Center at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Creative Arts Center in Chatham, MA.

Michael is included in Deborah Forman’s book, Contemporary Cape Cod Artists on Abstraction, 2015.
