Description
Monday through Thursday, August 4 – 7 (4 Day Camp)
4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Ages 10 – 12
Have fun creating both visual art and playing with words as we make hands-on art projects and writing exercises. Each day offers a new adventure in creativity, ending with a showcase of our work.
Day 1: Artistic exploration – Dive into the world of collage, painting, and drawing. Create mini artworks that reflect favorite colors, characters, and objects, laying the groundwork for creative expressions.
Day 2: Ekphrastic Poetry – Discover the art of ekphrastic poetry, writing that is inspired by visual art. We craft poems that respond to our own artworks, describing, interpreting, or telling stories based on our creations.
Day 3: Imaginative Writing – We will compose poems, short stories, or character dialogues, either from imagination or by selecting prompts from a “pick of the hat,” encouraging spontaneity and fun.
Day 4: Visual Storytelling – Create artworks that will be paired with the previous days writing. Explore different materials, mix and match colors while you form pictures from your writing.
