Thursdays, January 9 – March 13
6:00 pm – 9:00pm (10 Weeks)

This intermediate/advanced level class is designed for students looking to expand their skills and push their creativity. Focusing on advanced techniques, the course explores multi-part forms, and more complex wheel-throwing methods. Students will learn to refine surface decoration, experiment with texture, glaze layering, and work with larger or more intricate pieces.

Bring an apron or an old towel to protect your clothes. We sell sturdy aprons in red, black and tan at Falmouth Art Center for $28 if you need to purchase one.

Scholarship Information

The Falmouth Art Center is very proud to have a scholarship fund supported by donations from members and friends. It is available for both children and adults who have a great desire to create art. Scholarship Information and Forms

Refund policy:

Refunds will not be given within one week of the start of a class. Classes are not pro-rated, and there are no makeups for missed classes. A $25 processing fee is withheld from all refunds.

The Art Center reserves the right to cancel any class or workshop due to insufficient enrollment, in which case tuition will be fully refunded.

Materials

Fee includes 25 pounds of clay, glaze and firing fee. A tool kit may be purchased for $20. Open studio time, which is scheduled several times throughout the week, is available at no extra charge.

Instructor Bio

Kelsey Chenoweth began her ceramics journey at Bates College when she took a couple of clay classes to sprinkle in some fun between her rigorous science courses. After graduating with a B.S. degree, she moved to Woods Hole to start a research job at the Woodwell Climate Research Center. To her excitement, she worked alongside Anya Zolkos who pointed her to the Falmouth Art Center where she has now been taking clay classes for over three years. Kelsey is now in a research position at the Marine Biological Laboratory and is very excited to move into teaching clay classes and see where it can take her.

Anya Zolkos has been taking clay classes at the art center for five years and greatly enjoys making teapots and mugs. Anya grew up in the Siberian arctic, and aspects of this has influenced some of her design techniques. She received her master’s degree in Climate Science and Policy from Teri University in New Delhi, moved to Woods Hole, and now holds a research position at the Woodwell Climate Research Center. Anya is very excited for this teaching opportunity and can’t wait to pass along her knowledge.
