Description
Wednesdays, September 13 – October 18
10am to 12:00 pm
This class is for artists and art students who have some familiarity with the art-making process. Whether you are a representational or abstract painter or drawer, this class will open you up to the playfulness of acrylic mixed-media collage!
Sarah will be guiding you through a series of exercises, and techniques that will broaden your familiarity with acrylic paints, acrylic mediums, and collage. By incorporating hand-made and textured papers, as well as bringing in papers “of meaning”, from various parts of your life, you will be learning how to build and compose gorgeous mixed-media art pieces!
There are two facets of the class: first, Sarah will lead you through a series of exercises for building and forming the pieces. Second, this “Lab” class will allow time to work on your own, to deepen your process, and dialogue with fellow art-makers as you go.
Techniques will include glazing, tints, washes and the basics of building layers with papers, as well as collage techniques. The final phase of the class will focus on composition, and how to understand when a piece is finished.
Come enjoy with your fellow art-makers, as we learn about the endless flexibility and joy of mixed-media collage.
Check the “materials” tab for supplies you’ll need to bring to class.
