Falmouth Art Center presents Kim Moberg and Heather Swanson performing Kim’s latest release “The Seven Fires Prophecy Suite for Humanity”. The suite tells the ancient yet relevant Anishinaabe legend called “The Seven Fires Prophecy”, which teaches that in order to survive as a species, humans must learn to live together with respect for all people of all colors in addition to our environment.
The concert is FREE to public and is generously sponsored by a grant from the Falmouth Council / Mass Cultural Council in addition to sponsorship by the Falmouth Art Center.
Award winning Tlingit artist Kim Moberg was born in Juneau, Alaska and currently calls Cape Cod, MA home. Music was the constant in her childhood, helping her to adjust to the frequent moves associated with growing in a military family. She began playing guitar at age 14 but severe stage fright kept her from becoming a professional performer. In 2014 Kim set out to overcome her stage fright and wrote her first song.
Kim teamed with Grammy nominated producer Jon Evans to record three albums, all receiving critical acclaim and charting on the Folk Alliance International DJ charts. Kim’s third release “The Seven Fires Prophecy Suite for Humanity” (2023) is an original 8 song suite that tells the ancient yet relevant Anishinaabe legend “The Seven Fires Prophecy”. Her newest project “All That Really Matters” will be released in 2025. Kim’s rich vocals have been described as “a blend of honey and whiskey”.
Heather Swanson, a classical violinist who crossed over to folk and traditional Celtic music. Heather performs with her cellist daughter Krista Lucich as the Cape Violin Cello Duo, as accompanist for Singer/Songwriter Kim Moberg and in an Irish Duo featuring Traditional Irish Folk music. Heather also lends her talents to the pit band at various theatrical shows on the Cape and beyond.
Heather’s first cd titled “Beside Quiet Waters” (2019), produced by Grammy-nominated producer Jon Evans, is a collection of traditional and contemporary Celtic tunes. Follow Heather on Facebook at Cape Violin Cello Duo.
