Exhibition Details
Falmouth Art Center’s Open Juried Photography Exhibition will be held at the Falmouth Center, Falmouth, MA from April 28- May 29, 2023. The Falmouth Art Center hosts a variety of juried exhibitions including the spring exhibition dedicated to photography. This year’s open juried photography exhibition will kick off the season for our 2023 juried shows. Photography will be hung in the art center’s main gallery, The Hermann Gallery, offering visitors to Falmouth Art Center the opportunity to view the selected images.

Eligibility
Photographs must not have been previously exhibited in the Falmouth Art Center.
Artists may submit any number of original works.
Open to members and nonmembers.
Any work exceeding 40 inches in either direction is less likely to be accepted.
All photographs must be framed and wired ready for hanging.
Any work normally glassed and exceeding 30 inches in either direction must be framed using an acrylic glazing (such as Plexiglas) only. No clamped glass, cardboard, paste on or saw tooth hangers.
Work not suitably framed may be rejected from the exhibit with no refund of entry fee.
Please ensure that photographs submitted are available for the exhibit dates. If work is accepted and is not available for exhibition dates, the artist will be banned entering on-line juried exhibits at FAC for two years.
Work entered must be by a living photographer.
Photographs entered should be done independently, not under instruction in a class or workshop.
When accepted work is brought to the FAC, it will be expected to resemble the computer JPG. Should it not, the FAC reserves the right to remove the photograph from the exhibit even though it has been accepted by the juror, and even if it has already been hung in the gallery.

Members: $15.00 for the first entry and $10 for each entry after the first

Juror/Judge Rowland Scherman
One of the most frequently published photographers in Life magazine during the late 1960s, Rowland Scherman is noted for an iconic portfolio that documents the worlds of politics, culture, and the rock music scene. His work has appeared in dozens of magazines and books, including Life, Look, Time, National Geographic, Playboy, and Paris Match, earning wide acclaim, including a Grammy Award in 1968 for the portrait that appears on the cover of Dylan’s greatest hits album. Scherman relocated to London in 1970, then to Birmingham, Ala., in the 1980s, and finally to Cape Cod on 2000. He continues to shoot portraits, photo essays, and abstract work.

March 2-11 Judge selects entries
March 15 Notification of acceptance. Notifications sent to artists by email from Falmouth Art Center. Please check spam if you have not received notification. List of accepted works will also appear on FAC website.
April 22 Shipping deadline for receipt of works shipped to Art Center. All shipped work must be suitably packed and must include a prepaid return label and FAC entry label
April 25 9-4pm Receiving of hand delivered Accepted Works. 137 Gifford Street, Falmouth MA
May 5 5-7pm Awards Reception at Falmouth Art Center
May 30 9-4 pm Pick -up of artwork not sold. Shipped work to be packaged and sent within one week of the show closing
Delivery and Return information will be provided upon acceptance.
Entering Your Images
The entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Do not submit photographs with a visible signature.
Do not submit photos previously shown at the Falmouth Arts Center.

Your image must be in JPEG format, at least 1920 pixels on the longest side and less than 8MB.

REGULATIONS By entering through Smarter Entry the artist agrees to the following: The Officers, Board of Directors and employees of Falmouth Art Center will use care in handling art work, but in no way are responsible for any damage that may occur in uncrating, moving or hanging art work. FAC reserves the right to reject any work which cannot be displayed in a safe and secure manner, (including poorly framed or wired work) or which does not fully reflect that which is portrayed on the jpeg. Accepted pieces may be used on our website in regards to this exhibit. Pieces will be listed for sale using the JPEG submitted. I understand that the FAC receives a commission on all sales.
