6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Slab rollers are easy and fun to use. They produce large slabs of uniform clay quickly. This opens the artist to the ability to make a variety of beautiful pieces such as bags, clothing, faces and even figures in a manner that can’t be achieved simply by hand or with a potter’s wheel.
The instructor, Neil Grant, will demonstrate the underlying principles of making slab based pieces and students will then be able to either participate in a guided step by step project or can set off on their own individual project with supervision.
This class is suitable for beginners and those who just want to get a little off the beaten track with their art projects.
Fee includes 25 pounds of clay, glaze and firing fee. A tool kit may be purchased for $12. Open studio time, scheduled at various times throughout the week, is available at no extra fee.
Neil Grant is an English sculptor who lives and works on Cape Cod. He specializes in using classical sculpting techniques to produce ‘fine art through a different lens’. Neil likes to inject both humor and social commentary into his art, as well as to wander off the path into the unusual, but always works off a solid foundation of technical competence. He has studied under nationally recognized sculptors such as Philippe Faraut and Brian Booth Craig, and regularly produces commission pieces for private collections. He is a firm believer that anyone can sculpt if they are led astray enough.
Refunds will not be given within one week of the start of a class. Classes are not pro-rated, and there are no makeups for missed classes. A $25 processing fee is withheld from all refunds.
The Art Center reserves the right to cancel any class or workshop due to insufficient enrollment, in which case tuition will be fully refunded.
If Falmouth Public Schools are closed due to weather conditions, we will be closed and the missed classes will be rescheduled.
